The BWF has three badminton World Training Centres (WTCs)
There are two different focues for these WTCs.
1. Performance Centre - Saarbrucken
This is for talented badminton players from less developed and developing countries whose goal is to qualify for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. This elite training center focuses on one group of athletes in a long term elite development program. It is results driven and performance based in both the training and competition programs.
2. Development Centres – Guangzhou and Sofia
These centers offer high performance training in a world class facility for players from less developed and developing countries who do not have the facilities, coaches or programs for talented young badminton players. The centers run shorter training and development programs than WTC Saarbrucken. These provide athletes with their first experience of high performance training.
WTCs - Key Focus
To be internationally recognized as the world's best equipped Training Centres, providing state-of-the-art facilities for training of high performance athletes/players and coaches to ensure that badminton is the leading indoor racquet sport. Programs are individualized, needs based and underpinned by science.
