"The aim of Olympic Solidarity is to organize assistance to National Olympic Committees (NOCs), in particular those which have the greatest need of it. This assistance takes the form of programs elaborated jointly by the IOC and the NOCs, with the technical assistance of the International Federations (IFs), if necessary."
- (Rule 5, Olympic Charter)

Between each Olympic Games, the IOC, the IFs and NOCs focus on developing sport and Olympic Solidarity plays an important role in this.

Olympic Solidarity is the organization responsible for distributing the share of television revenue from the Olympic Games that is allocated to NOCs. It assists NOCs and Continental Associations to develop sport through programs which are based on specific development needs.

The four priority areas for sport development programs are:

  • Athletes
  • Coaches
  • NOC Management
  • Promotion of Olympic Values

Badminton Development

National Badminton Federations/Associations can apply for funds to assist running specific courses and programs. All applications MUST go through National Olympic Committees. National Badminton Association can receive:

  • Funding for specific projects;
  • Funding for athlete training - includes high level training at Training Centres;
  • Funding for post-graduate education and training courses for coaches;
  • Funding for coach education at the BWF WTC Saarbrucken (Internship);
  • Funding for expert consultants in your sport and sport administration to improve the national and local sports structure.

It is important to contact your NOC and build the linkages with badminton, your National Badminton Federation and your NOC.

The BWF and Continental Confederations can assist National Badminton Associations.

The BWF can provide expert coaches for Olympic Solidarity National Technical Courses for Coaches. Contact Gunther Huber for assistance:  gunther@internationalbadminton.org

National Federations should request information from their NOCs on:
