The BWF World Training Centre (WTC) Guangzhou was established in June 2005. This is a badminton Development Centre and it offers high performance training in a world class facility.
The high performance programs are designed for players from less developed and developing nations who do not have the facilities, coaches or programs to develop talented young badminton players.
The center generally runs one month training and development programs. These programs often provide players with their first structured experience in high performance training. Programs aim to better prepare players for international competition |

Targeted Programs
The WTC Guangzhou provides elite competency based training and education for player and coaches. It runs targeted programs to support regional development. In 2007 the WTC Guangzhou focused on supporting regional development in Asia however there were players from other regions represented in some intakes - Sri Lanka, the Maldives, North Korea, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Mongolia, Syria, Jordan, Botswana, Russia and Canada.
The 2008 programs will target particular age groups, skill level and regional focuses.

Facilities
The Training Center is based on the campus of the Wai Lun Technical College, a junior sport high school, which provides on-site accommodation and catering as well as the training facilities. The Guangzhou Badminton Team trains at the same venue. The program builds on joint training and sparring with the Guangzhou Badminton team.
Management
A Committee of Management (chaired by a BWF council member) provides the overall planning and the monitoring of the program. The day to day management is the responsibility of the Center Manager.
